Maison Bourrel is a magnificent period house in the small market town of Quillan situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees on the banks of the River Aude. It provides a perfect venue for luxurious holidays or corporate entertaining.
You can 'chill out' in splendid surroundings, explore this beautiful region with its fascinating history, and wide range of activities, or join in the many local events including concerts, music festivals, markets, fetes, cycle races, horse shows and wine tastings.
During 2001 – 2004 the house was sympathetically restored and upgraded for modern living and now provides practical and luxuriously appointed accommodation including Louis 16th Salon with grand piano. Romantic Bedroom Suites with balconies. Large “Chefs” kitchen and Elegant Dining Room.
The private courtyard garden has been designed for outdoor living in the long hot summers and features a 10 mt. pool with counter swim unit, sundecks, fountain, BBQ outside dining area and covered seating area.
Shops cafes bars and restaurants are a few minutes walk away and a wide range of activities are available in the town and nearby including Walking, Cycling, Skiing, Riding, Canoeing, and Rafting.
Guests at Maison Bourrel are welcomed by an English speaking “Guardian†who will show you around, provide information and advice on local activities and events and be available during your stay if you require any further assistance.
This is a particularly beautiful region with a fascinating history and Quillan is ideally placed for exploring the Cathar Castles, Mediterranean beaches and glorious countryside with lakes, rivers, and mountain streams (see Activities and Location).
The atmospheric hilltop village of Renee le Château (15 mins drive) with its historical secrets has been featured in many best selling books including Holy Blood-Holy Grail and Dan Brown’s The Di-Vinci Code.
Medieval towns and cities including Mirepoix (which hosts a splendid market on Mondays) and the magnificent Cite of Carcassone are a short drive away.
Markets- Market days in Quillan are Wednesday and Saturday with craft markets on other days in the summer. Others worth visiting are Mirepoix on Monday morning and Esperaza on Sunday morning.
